Phx Krav Fit

When the 2/20/2020 started, and we started to pick Students of the Week, Stephanie and I knew that mid way though (week 10), we wanted to honor our assistants. Obviously we didn't know that we'd be training online, but it is what it is. Regardless, our assistants are to thank for having such a strong student base who continues to follow us even online and away from the gym.

Therefore, this week, we're honoring the men and women who give, sacrifice, give some more and double and triple their training time all for YOU - the students. Steph and I wanted to thank them for everything they do, whether it is help in class, encourage people online or give everyone valuable feedback from us owners to brand new students.

If we've had any success as a school, we know our assistants are a big part of that - so this week, they are OUR Students of the Week. Here is a little about each of them.

Vicki (youth, junior, adult)- She is great with both the kids and adults. She encourages both to strive for their best in all areas. She is willing to help whenever needed and with whatever is needed which is greatly appreciated.

Jeremiah (youth)- He has so much patience with the kids yet sets a firm line of expectation. He is encouraging and kind even when the kids continue to not get something or have lost their focus. His quiet passion for this art for himself and for kids is greatly noted.

John(youth)-He has been a great asset to the kids. He is patient and helpful with technique and keeping the kids on track. He is willing to fill in on his nights off if needed and that is a great help.

Amy (Not pictured/junior)- She is a calming force in the junior class. Her quick smile and welcoming demeanor help the kids to feel more comfortable. She is patient with the kids and helpful when they are not getting a technique.

Nikki (junior, adult)-She has been an assistant for long time now and we depend so much on her. She has grown leaps and bounds not only in her own technique but as a teacher at all levels. She will partner with anyone, help anyone or with anything , and tells everyone who will listen how great Phx Krav Fit is.

Justin (junior)- He has always been a great practitioner but I'm more proud of how far he has come as a teacher. His confidence and poise in front of a classroom of students has risen exponentially. He always has an encouraging word to say to others and to us as instructors.

Kevin (junior,adult)-He is such an asset to the school and to each member. His passion for the art comes through every time he teaches. He is willing to help out any way he can and is always up for constructive feedback so that he can improve both as a practitioner and a staff member.

Rick (adult)- One of our first official students here in Phoenix, Rick was hesitant on assisting at first, and has come so far! Few can match his intensity, which he has now transferred to teaching. He cares about the details, and rarely if ever let's up on making sure students know how to do a move or drill correctly... and better!

Mark (adult)- Steph and I first knew of Mark from the weight room at the Anthem Community Center. He was always nice, and always social! When he contacted us for his first class, he came in, and it gave us a chance to get to know him more. This big masculine man was really a teddy bear, and had a huge heart, which he transferred over to his assisting. Making sure students knew what they were doing, but felt comfortable doing it has always been his objective, and we thank him for that!

Tina(adult)- Tina came in shy, but quickly showed herself to be a brave student, who also had a heart for helping people, especially women who felt nervous about classes. Her mixture of caring and intensity helps students break out of their shells and grow exponentially.

Saleem (adult)- Humor, curiosity, knowledge, experience... We get it all with Saleem, and so do our students. Like a breath of fresh air, he helps everyone keep on their toes, while also brining combative experience and perspective. Saleem assists in ways which help students understand the "why" of their training, just as much as the "how".

Jordan(adult)- He seems like a "regular guy", but he isn't. Again, using humor to break the ice, but having a heart to help students is his unique combination which breaks through to them. Having an eye for detail, yet seeing the big picture gives him an edge to help others, while lightening up the mood in the class is great!

Phx Krav Fit

Transferring our training online does not stop us! We're continuing to highlight our students of the week. If you have pics of you training in house with our online format, please email (matt@phxkravfit.com) or text them (623-300-6114) to us, so we can congratulate you on your continued effort!

STUDENT OF THE WEEK: Week #9, March 16 - 22

Adult Student: John, Level 3 Adult class
John has an incredible story this last year or so, losing an immense amount of weight, and really increasing the quality of his physical life. In Krav, he is an extremely hard worker, who doesn't give up, and keeps on coming at you! As we've transitioned our training online, John continues to train and also has invited his family to take part. Great job John, keep up the great work!

(For more info on our adult classes, please go to: www.PhxKravFit.com )

Youth Student: Penny, Level 1 Juniors class
Penny was chosen for student of the week because she is so determined to learn the techniques and do them to the best of her ability. Since her mom (who is a level 4 student of ours) signed her up, Penny has worked hard during classes and outside of classes to improve her strength and intensity. She is a great listener and works well with any partner. Great job Penny!
